The Short Film Jury, composed of Natasha Lako, Ema Andrea, and Sokol Krasniqi, awarded the following prizes:
DEA Cup for Best Idea (RTV21 Award) went to the film “Polis Nea” – Italy, 2016, directed by Pierluigi Ferrandini
DEA Cup for Best Editing was awarded to Pascal Garrigue for the editing of the film “The Cherry Tree” – France, 2017
DEA Cup for Best Director went to Mathijs Geijskes for the film “Stuck” – Netherlands, 2016
DEA Cup for Best Short Film was awarded to “Half a Man” by Kristina Kumrić – Croatia, 2016
The Feature Film Jury, composed of Veton Surroi, Cathy de Haan, Mevlan Shanaj, Diana Dobreva, and Agron Vula, awarded the following prizes:
DEA Cup for Best Screenplay in a Feature Film was awarded to Vardan Tozija for the screenplay of the film “Amok” – North Macedonia, 2016
DEA Cup for Best Cinematography in a Feature Film was awarded to cinematographers Cevahir Şahin and Kürşat Üresin for the photography of the film “Cold of Kalandar” – Turkey, 2016
DEA Cup for Best Actor in a Feature Film was awarded to French actor Michel Blanc for the film “Memories” – France, 2014
DEA Cup for Best Director in a Feature Film was awarded to German director Julia C. Kaiser for the film “Hanna’s Sleeping Dogs” – Germany, 2016
DEA Cup for Best Feature Film went to “Cold of Kalandar” – Turkey, 2016, directed by Mustafa Kara
The DEA OPEN AIR International Film Festival traditionally also presents the Media Award, which recognizes films in competition based on the civic engagement of artistic creation and its contribution to raising public awareness on important social and community issues.
The Media Jury, composed this year of Astrit Idrizi, Valentina Murati, and Shpresa Dine, awarded two prizes:
Special Media Award in the Short Film Competition went to the film “The Clapper” by Evelina Barsegyan – Russian Federation, 2017
Special Media Award in the Feature Film Competition went to the film “Drifters (Tjuvheder)” – Sweden
The Saranda Audience Award, determined as described above, went to the film “Not Now” (Russian Federation, 2016) by director Mikhail Dovzhenko and was presented to the winner by the Director of Public Relations at the Municipality of Saranda, Thoma Nika.
The Student Jury Award was presented to the film “Frame” (Kosovo, 2016) by Kosovar director Donjeta Hyseni.
DEA HOMAGE, awarded as a sign of respect for artistic achievement and mourning for the loss, was dedicated to the distinguished Albanian film actor Bujar Lako.
The DEA Recognition Award for outstanding contribution to cinema, presented by Festival Director Edmond Topi, was posthumously awarded this year to director Viktor Gjika, in honor of a rich legacy of 15 feature films and 25 documentaries.
