The DEA Recognition Award, dedicated to distinguished personalities of Albanian and international cinema and culture, and presented annually by the festival organizers, was this year awarded to the acting Mayor of Saranda, Stefan Çipa, in recognition of his pioneering support for the idea and organization of the DEA OPEN AIR International Film Festival, launched in Saranda in June 2014.

The Saranda Audience Award, traditionally presented by the Municipality of Saranda, was this year awarded in the form of Certificates of Appreciation, which were presented to DEA OPEN AIR Director Edmond Topi and RTV21 General Director Afërdita Saraçini Kelmendi.

Through these recognitions, the Municipality of Saranda expressed its appreciation for the vision of the founder and director of the DEA OPEN AIR International Film Festival to make Saranda part of this project and, consequently, a meeting place for cinema, filmmakers, Albanian culture, and European and international artistic exchange. The Municipality also acknowledged the commitment of the RTV21 Director, herself a citizen of Saranda, for her financial and media support in the development of such events, which stimulate the city’s cultural life and enrich its tourist appeal with new dimensions.

The cinema is trying to overcome a serious crisis …
This time a global crisis …
This is not the first cinema crisis …
It is not even its first global crisis …

But in contrast to its previous crises – outside it or partially inside it, this
crisis threatened and still threatens the motive of the existence of cinema
in modern times …,
the desire to consume the film together…
