Third Edition of the DEA OPEN AIR International Film Festival
Saranda – Gjirokastra, 2016

The Short Film Jury, composed of Carlos Campos Serna (Mexico), Burbuqe Berisha (Kosovo), and Alina Niemeyer (Germany), awarded the following prizes:

DEA Cup for Best Idea (RTV21 Award) went to the film “The Last Battle” (Kosovo, 2015) by director Alban Zogjani

DEA Cup for Best Editing was awarded to Ilka Rise for the editing of the film “At the Beach” (Germany, 2015)

DEA Cup for Best Director went to director Christophe Saber for the film “Discipline” (Switzerland, 2014)

DEA Cup for Best Short Film was awarded to “Grandma’s Day” (Poland, 2016) by director Miloš Sakovski

The Media Award, presented by the Media Jury composed of Sokol Shameti, Kristina Fidhi (TOP Channel), and Lorik Bakiu (RTV21 Kosovo), went to the film “Meteors” by director Ljubo Yonchev – Bulgaria, 2015.

The Feature Film Jury, composed of Michael Wiedemann (Germany), Antonella Gaeta (Italy), Përparim Kabo (Albania), Lumnie Sopi (Kosovo), and Martin Kaufmann (Switzerland), awarded the following prizes:

DEA Cup for Promising Acting Career (Special Jury Prize) went to the young Swiss actress Anina Walt for the role of Sara in the film “Nothing Happened” (Switzerland, 2015)

DEA Cup for Best Screenplay in a Feature Film was awarded to screenwriters Lars Kraume and Olivier Guez for the screenplay of the film “The People vs. Fritz Bauer” (Germany, 2015)

DEA Cup for Best Cinematography in a Feature Film was awarded to cinematographer Dmitri Kushinov for the photography of the film “White Moss” (Russia, 2014)

DEA Cup for Best Actor in a Feature Film was awarded to Swiss actor David Striesow for the role of Thomas in the film “Nothing Happened” (Switzerland, 2015)

DEA Cup for Best Director in a Feature Film was awarded to Swedish director Amanda Adolfsson for the direction of the film “Young Sophie Bell” (Sweden, 2015)

DEA Cup for Best Feature Film went to “The People vs. Fritz Bauer” (Germany, 2015), directed by Lars Kraume

The Student Jury Award, presented this year by students of the Mediterranean University of Tirana, was awarded to the film “The Hero” (Kosovo, 2014) by Kosovar director Luan Kryeziu.

The DEA Recognition Award for outstanding contribution to cinema, presented by Festival Director Edmond Topi, was awarded twice this year. The honor went to two legendary figures of Albanian acting and loyal friends of DEA, the People’s Artists Margarita Xhepa and Tinka Kurti.
