Director’s Speech

We turn off the lights to open our eyes…

… I feel privileged to welcome you to another edition of DEA OPEN AIR, where we gather once again to experience and celebrate the magic of cinema together.

Our motto this year, “we turn off the lights to open our eyes,” represents the true essence of the cinematic experience.

Each time the lights go out, we are challenged to detach from the world around us, drawing us into a virtual journey, each time unforgettable, due to the events, heroes, powerful experiences, and emotions that only cinema can offer.

This festival is an important platform where your talent and creativity come to life, creating a space for international dialogue and collaboration. Over the coming days, we will have the opportunity to share thoughts, forge new connections, and be inspired by each other’s work.

As we leave behind 10 years, we have ten times the courage to look forward: for more connections, more exchanges, more quality productions, and united forces in the name of humanity, beauty, sublimity, the future, and everything that brings us together.

Therefore, I cannot thank enough all those who, with their passion, energy, and dedication, make this festival possible – the sponsors, collaborators, and above all, the participants whose art and emotion make this festival special and successful.

I invite you to fully experience and take advantage of every moment of this festival…

I invite you to immerse yourselves in the magic of cinema…

I invite you to embrace the moment, allowing the films and creators you encounter to open your eyes, minds, and hearts to new ideas, approaches, and perspectives…

Let the lights go out…!

Let the emotions ignite…!

Let the magic begin!

I wish you all an unforgettable festival!

The cinema is trying to overcome a serious crisis …
This time a global crisis …
This is not the first cinema crisis …
It is not even its first global crisis …

But in contrast to its previous crises – outside it or partially inside it, this
crisis threatened and still threatens the motive of the existence of cinema
in modern times …,
the desire to consume the film together…
