The film portrays moments from the ordinary life of a family in a provincial Romanian town in 1985. Its protagonist, a five-year-old girl, cannot understand the absurdity of the totalitarian regime surrounding her, so her world remains colorful and free from fear. But with a father who is a militia colonel and a grandfather secretly listening to the banned Voice of America radio, her innocent games begin to put the family at risk.
